Interview with Saleh Al Sharji – Event and CSR Supervisor

We recently caught up with Saleh Al Sharji our CSR and events supervisor, and asked him a few questions about his experience in Muscat Bay’s events.

Q.Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and what led you to where you are now?

A. I am professional CSR & Events Supervisor. I’m 29 years old and joined Muscat Bay in March 2015. I had started my career in Higher Education as a lecturer. I am also a certified trainer in event management. I have worked on projects that are related to communities and investments.

Q.Given the increased focus on tourism in Oman in recent years, how has this changed/altered the event scene?

A. Considering the focus of the tourism sector in Oman, it has driven me to think of promoting Oman as one the best tourist destinations for holidays in the Gulf. Therefore, we have to promote Oman’s luxurious and outstanding resort villages like Muscat Bay. Events play a significant role of distinguishing one place from another and have now become a form of contact for promotions with evolved concepts. We are working to come up with new events that are designed exclusively for Muscat Bay.

Q.What sets apart the events organised at Muscat bay from other similar events across the capital?

A. The attractive events of Muscat Bay recreate the lifestyle and provide a relaxed atmosphere for the guests, which in turn has a unique added value. We don’t only organize events but also plan to introduce new events that have not been done before in Muscat.

Q.What, in your opinion, is the importance of CSR to any organisation, and what does it mean to Muscat Bay in particular?

A. The significance of CSR to any organization relies on developing the local community and creating sustainable CSR initiatives. Muscat Bay has already implemented CSR strategies in the area and we have our vision of being a good neighbour to the local community and towards the environment as well.

Q.What approach does Muscat Bay’s aim to take with regard to its CSR initiatives and activities?

A. As I mentioned earlier, Muscat Bay seeks to become a good neighbour to the local community. It aims to create a sustainable and independent society with a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, our focus is to develop the area for the surrounding people. We have undertaken some key projects to achieve our aim such as building a football playground, a Public Majlis, and are currently working on project to provide shades for fishermen. All these projects will help to create a healthy lifestyle and build an independent community.
